In breast augmentation with silicone implants, the breast is enlarged by inserting high quality silicone implants over or under the pectoral muscle. Silicone implants are available in various shapes and countless sizes. Breast augmentation is one of the most common interventions in Plastic Aesthetic Surgery in Turkey.
Many women from all age categories feel the desire for a bigger breast. Some have rather small breasts because of their predisposition since puberty. In others, after a pregnancy or breastfeeding came to “empty” breasts. A weight loss or the aging process can change breasts sustainable.
The use of silicone implants allows us to respond to the different needs of women. Unlike autograft breast augmentation, breast augmentation with silicone implants allows for an enlargement of more than one cup size. If desired, the breast augmentation can be combined with a breast lift.
Basically, our goal is a beautifully contoured and natural-looking breast.
How do I prepare for a mammary augmentation?
In the run-up to the operation, we will discuss your ideas in a detailed consultation with you and determine the appropriate technique (incision, implant position, implant size and shape).
In the 14 days prior to surgery, you should avoid painkillers that affect blood clotting (eg, aspirin). We also recommend that you refrain from consuming nicotine two weeks before and after surgery.
Breast Augmentation Procedure
The mammary augmentation is carried out as part of a 1-2-day hospitalization under general anesthesia. A small incision in the lower breast crease at the edge of the areola or in the area of the armpit creates a space for the implant.
The implant may be inserted either on or under the breast muscle during breast augmentation. The choice of implant location depends on various factors and your wishes. After the implants have been inserted, the skin is sewn with resorbable sutures. Still in the operating room, a supporting bandage is created.
Which implants are used?
Modern breast implants consist of a silicone sheath and a cohesive silicone filling, which means that even if the sheath is damaged, the silicone can not leak out.
Basically, a distinction is made between round and anatomical (drop-shaped) implants. These are each available with different projection and in many sizes.
What does the aftertreatment look like?
The day after the operation, the support bandage and drainage tubes for wound exudate are removed. Thereafter, the adjustment of a sports bra, which should be worn for a total of six weeks day and night. Additionally, in some cases, we recommend wearing a chest band during the first two weeks.
Are there any complications in breast augmentation with silicone implants?
With the natural healing process, a fine connective tissue sheath (capsule) forms around the silicone implant. A complication of breast enlargement is said to occur when there is a scarred thickening of the sheath, a so-called capsular fibrosis, which in some cases necessitates a change of the silicone implant.
Very rarely there is a temporary disturbance of the nipple or a limited ability to breastfeed.
As with all surgeries, breast augmentation with silicone implants carries the risk of rebleeding, infection, wound healing disorder, or excessive scarring.
What is the alternative to implants?
If you do not want implantation of foreign material, we also offer breast augmentation with autologous fat.
